Furnace Problems That You Don’t Want to Ignore

Blog

When you live in a region that gets very cold at times, you need to make sure that your furnace is always in top-notch shape. This means that you need to call for furnace repair services as soon as you suspect that something is going wrong. To help you better understand when you need to call for help, you will want to review the following information:

A Broken Safety Switch

There is a safety switch on the furnace door and if that is not working properly, the furnace will not operate. If you aren't able to get the furnace to turn on, it would be a good idea to check this switch. It might just need for the furnace door to be put back in place. If the door was removed recently and not put back on correctly, the safety switch will not turn on and the burner will not start up. If it seems that the switch is actually broken, you will want to call a contractor for heater repair work.

The Flame Is Yellow

The pilot flame should be blue and the flame should be even across the top. If the blue flame is uneven or the flame is actually yellow, then there is most likely an issue with a dirty pilot. This will need to be properly cleaned and it is best to have an HVAC technician do that for you. Until the work is done, you may be instructed to turn off the furnace. This is because there is a risk of a carbon monoxide leak, which can cause headaches, illness, and even death.

It's Rapid Cycling

Rapid cycling is when the furnace kicks on and off too quickly, causing problems with regulating the temperature in the house, This excessive strain on the furnace can cause additional problems. As you can imagine, this is an issue that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. It could just be that there is a lot of dirt and dust on the filter. You can swap the dirty one out for a new one, but if that doesn't do the trick then you need to call for heating repair help. There could be an issue with a belt or even the blower motor.

Make sure that you are contacting a reputable HVAC company or furnace repair contractor in your area and that you are not waiting too long.
